On January 26, 2026, a delegation from the China Formwork and Scaffolding Association (CFSA), consisting of Honorary Chairman Lu Yijie, Chairman Gao Feng, Vice Chairman Lin Wen, Executive Vice Chairman Han Zhiyong and Deputy Secretary-General Yang Bo, visited Hong Kong. The delegation held a working exchange meeting with representatives of the Scaffolding Trade Committee of the Hong Kong Registered Specialist Contractors Association and Hong Kong Huihui Holdings, and conducted an on-site inspection of Wang Fuk Court in Hong Kong, where a fire recently occurred. This event aimed to enhance mutual understanding between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong in the scaffolding industry, explore technical standards, safety management and industrial development, and jointly raise the industry's safety level and professional capabilities.
At the exchange forum, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on issues including the current status of Hong Kong's scaffolding industry, regulatory policies, technical specifications, construction safety and talent training. Representatives of the Scaffolding Trade Committee of the Hong Kong Registered Specialist Contractors Association elaborated on the operation mode, safety guidelines of Hong Kong's scaffolding industry, as well as the progress achieved in standardization and professionalization in recent years. Hong Kong Huihui Holdings shared its experience in project management, technological innovation and market practice. For their part, representatives of the CFSA introduced the latest developments, standard system construction and industrial upgrading in the formwork and scaffolding sector on the Chinese mainland. Both sides agreed that there is broad space for cooperation between the two industries in safety management, technological R&D, vocational training and other fields, and that regular communication should be strengthened in the future to promote experience sharing and resource integration.
After the meeting, accompanied by the person in charge of relevant Hong Kong institutions, the CFSA delegation conducted an on-site inspection of Wang Fuk Court, the site of the recent fire. The delegation focused on checking the external scaffolding involved in the fire and the surrounding environment, and held technical exchanges with on-site professionals on potential risk points and preventive measures for scaffolding of high-rise buildings in terms of fire safety, emergency protection, material flame retardancy and other aspects. This inspection provided an important perspective for an in-depth analysis of the accident causes and a reflection on the safety shortcomings of the industry.
Gao Feng, Chairman of the CFSA, stated that this trip to Hong Kong is a valuable opportunity for learning and exchange. Hong Kong has accumulated rich experience in the professional management of the scaffolding industry and its stringent safety supervision system, which is worthy of learning for mainland counterparts. Meanwhile, the mainland boasts a vast market and rapid technological development, and the two sides have strong complementarity. The Association looks forward to building more cooperation platforms in the future to jointly promote the safe, green and efficient development of the industry.
The person in charge of the Scaffolding Trade Committee of the Hong Kong Registered Specialist Contractors Association extended a warm welcome to the visit of the CFSA delegation, pointing out that national development has brought tremendous opportunities for Hong Kong's industry. This exchange and inspection activity has not only deepened mutual understanding between industry organizations and enterprises of the two sides, but also laid a solid foundation for promoting specific cooperation projects in the follow-up. The two sides agreed to maintain close communication, explore substantive cooperation in the fields of standard mutual recognition, technical seminars and personnel training, and work together to advance the high-quality development of the industry, contributing to urban construction and construction safety.
